With the snow from the previous weekend melted and temperatures around normal again we had a last-minute surge of members signing up to shoot at Bisley on the Club’s first outing of the Year. Numbers were rather low but that with a strong contingent on Tour in South Africa, it was about the number expected. Ian Mollan ran the weekend with some assistance first thing in the morning from Neil Moxon, Jim Lindsay and Dave Niblett. Mike Jenvey reported that conditions were cold and muddy but winds were generally light. After some practice at long and short range, the main competition started with a match at short range against Bullet Lodge managed by Charlie Staples and an Empire Match against BYSA (Warwick) captained by Sasha Radkovskii. Returning from his year as a newcomer, Matt House swiftly put in a possible for the RAFTRC at 300 yds along with possible from Ian Mollan and Chris Fitzpatrick. Chris Fitzpatrick then went on to score two more possibles at 600 and 900 yds while Mike Jenvey added to the tally with a possible at 600 yds.
The final result of the Short-Range Match against Bullet Lodge was a win for the RAFTRC with a total of 396.37. Chris Fitzpatrick was the top shot with 100.9. Bullet Lodge, fielding a relatively new team, finished on 349.18 with their top shot, Elanor, scoring 94.10.
The final result of the Empire Match against BYSA (Warwick) was a win for the RAFTRC with a total of 952.75. Chris Fitzpatrick was the top shot with 196.015. BYSA(Warwick) finished on 830.36 with their top shot, Edward, scoring 174.15.
