This is just a general outline but there is great flexibility and I would like to hear your ideas. I have gone for two sets of 4 days of shooting on 2 different ranges. We may well drop one day and thereby save money and instead shoot some fun guns, which are of course prevalent and legal in the States. For those who wish to shoot more, the Californian State Championships are on the 27/28 Feb and that would require flying out a few days earlier.
Coalinga Range is south of San Francisco near the ‘y’ of King City. http://www.coalingarifleclub.org/ There are no paid markers at Coalinga so it is all self-marking.
Sloughhouse Range is just to the east of Sacramento. www.sacvalley.org. Self marking on Thursday and Friday and paid markers on Sat & Sun.
Money. The RAFTRC will subsidise all those who shoot the with a minimum of £500. CJ says that is guaranteed as we have had a good Hospitality Days in 2014 and an equally good forecast for 2015. The RAF Sports Board Lottery is closing for 8 months or so whilst they get their act together with new software and procedures. Hopefully this will not affect grants for servicemen which we expect to be £500.
£600 Flights with Virgin
£150 Shooting entry fees
£200 Car hire and fuel
So with my fag packet costings that comes to £2000 a head minus of course the grants. This does not take in any costs for food or drink or R&R costs other than for cheap hotels.
